275 years for a church in existence. Wow, that is older than United States of America! The historical past is incredible as I am learning more and more the web of knowledge into our community and beyond. I am grateful for such a great group of people at St. Luke's ! The church has witnesses many wars, heartaches, pains as well as celebrating baptisms, communion, marriages and our celebration to come on Sunday , Nov. 5 at 2pm. We will celebrating the past and present, and begin to see where God will lead us into the future.
The St. Luke's Search Committee has unanimously selected Reveverend John R Hogue as our candidate for the ministry of our church. Pastor Hogue, a Pittsburgh native, is ordained in the United Church of Christ and serving in Falls City, Nebraska. He received his Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and served as pastor for several midwestern UCC churches. He has ecclesiastical standing in the United Methodist Church and is currently the pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Falls City.
Pastor John and his wife, Veronica, have 3 sons. Daniel recently graduated from Doane University, Isaac will be attending Doane University as a freshman this fall, and Nethanel will be a 9th grader. In their free time, Pastor John and Veronica like antiquing. Veronica likes to quilt and is looking forward to the many conveniences and opportunities of our area. Pastor John is a history buff who likes gardening and painting. They are looking forward to returning to Pastor John’s Pennsylvania roots and to meeting the congregation of St. Luke’s.
It is our belief that Pastor John has been called to St. Luke’s. He brings Christ’s love to everyone he meets. He is committed to the vitality of his congregations and to increasing involvement from all, especially the youth. He has fresh ideas for reaching into the community and for increasing the membership of St. Luke’s.
